Hohhot, June 1 (Xinhua) -- According to the latest statistics, as of the end of April, the grid connected installed capacity of Inner Mongolia's wind power in northern Xinjiang, China has increased to 7.52 million kilowatts, ranking first in the country.

It is reported that the construction of new energy and low-carbon economy is in full swing in Inner Mongolia. At present, its wind power installed capacity has exceeded the annual planning target of 7 million kilowatts, with wind power grid connected installed capacity in Ulanqab City, Xilingol League, Bayannur City, Chifeng City, and Tongliao City all exceeding 1 million kilowatts.

In order to strengthen the integration of wind power into the grid, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region arranges clean wind energy to the maximum extent possible while ensuring the safety of the power grid. Currently, the installed capacity of wind power connected to the grid in Inner Mongolia accounts for 20% of the grid's operating capacity, approaching the level of advanced wind power development countries such as Norway and Denmark.

It is understood that due to poor external transmission channels, limited local electricity load, and idle wind power generation equipment, Inner Mongolia's wind power once faced the problem of "difficult digestion". Since the beginning of this year, with the rapid growth of the industrial economy, Inner Mongolia's power operation has shown a stable and positive trend, with significant growth in power generation, consumption, and external transmission. Relevant data shows that currently, the cumulative wind power generation in Inner Mongolia has exceeded 10 billion kilowatt hours. Among them, in the first four months of this year, the wind power generation in Inner Mongolia reached 5.825 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 170.44%. (Source: Xinhua News Agency)
